Bucket List (a work in progress)
Yesterday was my monthly sabbatical day and I spent it taking stock of some of my life experiences thus far and putting down of paper some things I’d like to experience before I die. Let’s call it a bucket list. You’ll find the current list below. I’m certain I’ll be adding more to it as time goes on. As a point of reference, the many hiking items with (BP) after them refer to the BackPacker magazine edition in which I first discovered the particular hike. If you have any suggestions I should add, please pass them on. I’d also love to see your own list, if you have one. What a great tragedy to wake up at the end of life only to discover some of the finer moments have slipped through your grasp. The final bullet is empty so the list is never really complete. Enjoy:

Joe,
I just added Dog Sledding to my list a week or too ago. Don’t go without me!
As for getting your Pilots License, good luck. I got mine shortly before moving to OZ and it is still one of the more rewarding things I’ve accomplished.

I’m liking seeing the River To River Trail right up there near the top of your list. I just spent 2 days on the trail in some really beautiful dry fall weather. I imagine you are having the same this weekend. You can read about it on my new blog. I hope we get on a trail sometime together. Congrats on the new baby and summiting Ranier. John

You have Visit every national park on their twice! That’s a lot! I’ve done only a couple of those things. If you do the Gauley River make sure it’s in the spring. Also, I’ve been to Paris, and it’s nice, but it’s pretty much like the movies. I would suggest a visit to Lucerne, Switzerland instead. I’ve been there too, and it seems much more your style.

Wow! What a list! I like the visiting the National Parks idea and doing the Grand Canyon.
Looks like Jean and I will be seeing a lot of Jake
while you’re off hiking.
How old do you plan to live?
Whatever you miss before heaven you can do when Christ recreates the new earth.
Dream big!
