History

Our purpose comes clearly from 2 Corinthians 5:18-21. We are a Ministry of Reconciliation. We are reconciling people to God, people to people, and organizations to God. Transforming the kingdoms of this world into the Kingdom of God, where His will is done on earth as it is in Heaven.

The History of Rainbow Christian Camp is as a prayer-protected place of promise. The vision for the camp began with godly men in a fishing boat on McClure’s Lake in 1944. From the start it was determined that the camp would be Bible based, Christ centered, Mission minded, and was incorporated as Pearson’s Mill Christian Assembly in 1948 to reach and teach the next generation.

In 1965, the State of Indiana decided to flood the area on which the camp was located, so it was moved to its present location. Over sixty years later more than 1200 young people a year attend camp in over 40 sessions. We are continually searching for new and exciting ways to reach and teach the next generation through Bible-based, Christ-centered, and Mission-minded efforts.

Rainbow’s ministry continues year round with after school programs, all day or overnight school retreats for group building and problem solving, indoor climbing with initiatives, getaways for church groups of all ages, and many other activities which happen all year long.

Statement of Faith

  1. We call ourselves Christians and our churches may be referred to by any New Testament names, i.e. Christian church or Church of Christ or church of God, etc. We don’t claim to be the only Christians but we try to be Christians only.
  2. We believe in God, the Father.
  3. We believe Jesus is the Christ, the virgin born Son of the living God and our Lord and Savior, crucified for our sins and raised from the dead.
  4. We believe in the Holy Spirit, both as to His agency in conversion and as a dweller in the heart of the Christian.
  5. We accept the Bible, including the Old and New Testaments, as the infallible word of God. It is our only book of discipline. (So we have no name but Christian, no creed but Christ and no book but the Bible.)
  6. We believe in the future punishment of the wicked and the future reward of the righteous.
  7. We believe that the divine God is a prayer-hearing and prayer-answering God.
  8. We observe the Lord’s Supper on every Lord’s Day. To this table we neither invite nor turn away. It is the Lord who invites His children to partake.
  9. We plead for the unity of all God’s people. Where God has a child, we have a brother. Our purpose is to eliminate confusion by restoring the New Testament church in purity and practice in this third Millennium.
  10. We maintain that the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper should be observed as closely as possible to the way they were in the days of the apostles.
  11. Our mission is to seek and save the lost, to reach and teach the next generation, through the Gospel of Jesus Christ in obedience to the Great Commission.
  12. Fellowship is not based on creeds or a set of rules but on a commitment to the faith that Jesus Christ is Lord of all.
