(Edge) - Aaron Travis, 07-05-09 (Edge) Aaron Travis July 7th, 2009Monday – Day Two
Rise and shine; it’s Monday morning! Reports have it that there were many sleeping issues last night. Sleepwalkers, sleep-talkers, 3 a.m. risers, frantic hair straighteners, and wacky flashlight users haunted the cabins of Rainbow Christian Camp! But the day went on with amazing experiences all the same. Some of those said experiences were deep small group conversations. Our deans were “feminized” by some lovely ladies armed with finger polish. The nails of certain male campers were also embellished. Gender classes started today. The boys and girls separated into different rooms so that they could be open and comfortable about what they were being taught. The girls are learning about “The Sisterhood” and what it means to be sisters together in Christ. The boys’ theme in their class is “Cavemen”. Only God and those boys know what that could possibly mean. J Open recreation involved many different activities brought on by the ideas of several different counselors. Soccer and basketball games got started, bracelet making took place, and tetherball tournaments ensued. After a refreshing canteen, the campers met up in their medium groups for some healthy competition. They were to run around the camp hunting for the answers the Rainbow Christian Camp Trivial Pursuit questions! As far as we know, there was only one first aid run needed to be made today. Thank you, God for keeping all of our campers safe! Today, dinner was served half an hour early (to everyone’s delight!). Pasta was served with a choice of either parmesan or marinara sauce! We girls would like to thank the boys for being so chivalrous. They went around to each table and asked all the girls if they could help them with clearing their plates and cups (how sweet J!). As we head into the evening worship went much smoother. It was very evident that God was with these campers throughout the songs, and many hearts were touched with the lesson C.J. taught. Our missionary for the summer, Tina, enlightened us all with her stories of life in Haiti. Later on in the week, the campers will have an opportunity to give an offering to help Tina with her Haitian outreach. The night event this Monday was night climbing and glow in the dark ultimate Frisbee. Lots of fun was had today, and we can’t wait until tomorrow!
P.S. The saga of the reigning dean remains a mystery. But hopefully some light will be shed on the situation soon!
