7-31 Mephibosheth-Moore
Uncategorized August 7th, 2009It’s Friday, already? Wow, we just saw the last of the campers pick up his suitcase and head home. Mephibosheth 2009 was definitely a week of renewal for many of us involved. We had the opportunity to witness a baptism today when Jason chose to take that step. Many of the day-campers really enjoyed being the first in the pool to enjoy a time of relaxation and water fun. Jason repeated what he believes about Jesus being the Christ, Son and the Living God and how He will forgive us when we ask! The moment he arose to the surface again-ready to begin a new life with Christ-he lifted his eyes and fully extended his arms heavenward. After friends had surrounded him with love and support, we made our way back to the Conference Center and cabins to ready for lunch. Each team worked, throughout the few days, on a drama in which each camper was involved in presenting it. Right before dismissal, we gathered all together once again to praise God with music (we had a guitar player, kazoo and a music track) and dancing. These campers are wonderful at volunteering to pray every chance that they get. Ed gave each person the opportunity to go up front and share their ideas on the question “What was your favorite thing about this week of camp?” Many mentioned the Flying Squirrel, food and campfire time. One of the Mephibosheth campers even took the microphone to say “All the women here”. We had a number of hands go up to pray at prayer time, each of the prayers were ones of thankfulness. An example is, “Thank you, God, for each of the volunteers. I want to thank you for my mom bringing me to camp…” Many times, we ask God for this and that (health, money, etc, etc) when we have so much already to be thankful for. The innocence and openness displayed this week just blew me away and challenged me greatly (among so many others individuals!). Thank you volunteers, parents, family, friends, fellow staff and first of all, God, for leading each of us here for the week of Mephibosheth 2009!
